ZyLAB Announces First Annual Zy-IMAGEnation Summit Dedicated to Information Access Technologies

Event to Offer Training and Seminars focused on the Confluence of Records Management, e-Discovery, and Knowledge Management

McLean, VA – June 10, 2008 – ZyLAB, an innovative developer of Information Access Solutions, today announced that it will sponsor the first annual Zy-IMAGEnation Summit, taking place September 24-25, 2008, at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, Virginia. The theme of the conference is “Where Operational Efficiency Lives - The Confluence of Records Management, e-Discovery, and Knowledge Management.” This two-day event will focus on practical, best-practice methodologies and solutions for managing an organization’s accumulated knowledge, including records and e-mail management, e-discovery preparation and implementation, forms recognition, and workflow.

Attendees can attend best-practice seminars from leading information access professionals; participate in interactive sessions about the procedural and technical enhancements driving new levels of operational efficiency in private and public sectors; and enjoy a networking reception and riverboat dinner cruise on the Potomac, followed by Casino Night to celebrate ZyLAB’s 25th anniversary.

Day one will offer attendees a collection of industry experts and end-user speakers who will share their extensive knowledge on how information access technologies can be applied to enhance an organization’s overall efficiency, productivity and information security. Speakers on day one include:

  • George Socha, Founder, Socha Consulting LLC
With electronic discovery now occupying a prominent place on the technological and operational landscapes, standardized frameworks needed to be developed with which to define and structure discovery activities and the technologies that support them. Mr. Socha was one of the driving forces behind the EDRM project, the new internationally recognized standard for e-discovery, and he will discuss the standards, expectations, evolution and far-reaching impact of EDRM.
  • Dr. Johannes C. Scholtes, President and CEO, ZyLAB Technologies
Dr. Scholtes’ discussion will provide a detailed overview of the evolving confluence of records management, e-discovery, and knowledge management and how it can influence and benefit your internal business processes. Proper preparation for litigation and information retention can serve as an effective framework for enhanced knowledge management and information sharing across the organization.
  • Best practices case study on integrated records management and forms recognition solutions for the back-office
This best-practice discussion will illustrate the numerous integrated capabilities available to back-office professionals, including tools for forms recognition, e-mail management, project management, human resources management, contract management, and more.
  • Best practices presentation on knowledge management strategies and supporting technologies
Next-generation storage and knowledge management tools are providing simple, cost effective core functionalities in the historical archives and R&D sectors. Learn how approaches used in these sectors are being implemented throughout the larger enterprise and are also providing carry-over benefits to other areas such as maintenance, HRM, contract management, project management, outsourcing, security, business intelligence and many others.

Day two will offer attendees access to numerous learning sessions led by experienced technology practitioners focused on fully-integrated, user-friendly information-access solutions. Attendees will not just be shown how a particular solution works, but will also be introduced to a fully documented operational methodology (including quality control, auditing, reporting and performance measures) that can be applied to any organization. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Preparing for and conducting an e-discovery process, one of the most relevant, stressful and expensive propositions any organization can face.
  • Conceptualizing and implementing filing plans, the critical components in conducting effective records management activities (which include managing contracts, projects, and personnel records as well as complying with established procedures and so on).
  • Managing e-mail archives, which requires more than just sophisticated searching. Can attachments be accurately and thoroughly searched? Can e-mail records be investigated alongside other documents in a data repository? Can e-mail files be easily and accurately deleted according to policies and legal requirements?
  • Understanding the full impact of Google and MS Sharepoint in terms of how they are integrated into your organizational context.

“To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we wanted to put together an exciting and informative event for people interested in the practices and technologies that help them improve and secure their organizations,” said Dr. Johannes Scholtes, President, ZyLAB North America LLC. “Because we have always been ahead of the curve in developing information access technologies, it’s only fitting that we sponsor Zy-IMAGEnation to provide attendees with a glimpse of the how these types of technologies are positively impacting organizations in today’s marketplace and how they are paving the way for the innovative solutions of tomorrow.”
