“Jackson Hole” Taps ZyIMAGE for Securing Historic Documents and Enabling Online Access to Public Records
Vienna, VA – May 23, 2006 – ZyLAB, an innovative developer of Information Access Solutions, today announced that the Town of Jackson, Wyoming, is using ZyIMAGE to help improve overall efficiencies for locating local government information. This includes permanent and historical documents (dating back to 1914) as well as all current town contracts. The system enables users to find information in seconds and enables Jackson officials to better manage the expiration and renewal process of contracts.
With a limited budget, Jackson turned to ZyLAB’s modular approach of providing information access solutions. “ZyLAB provides an opportunity for a small government agency to implement a digital records management program by starting with a small project and continually expanding the program to a large enterprise system,” said Donna Baur, Records Manager/Deputy Town Clerk, Town of Jackson.
The initial steps of the utilization of ZyIMAGE were completed in 2003. All of the Town Clerk permanent records were scanned with key field entries, indexed and are searchable. In July 2005, the Web server module was implemented for internal use by Town employees. Electronic documents were indexed and added to the ZyLAB records collection. In September 2005, the ZyIMAGE Web Server was made available to the general public through the following link: www.townofjackson.com. Full implementation projects are in the works, which means adding municipal easements, planning documents, contracts, road and street project records, and utility records.
The Town of Jackson is the county seat of Teton County, Wyoming and the only incorporated municipality in the county. Jackson is the name of the Town, and "Jackson Hole" as it's often called, refers to the whole area which is a 50 miles long valley surrounded by high mountains. Jackson is a popular tourism destination because of its proximity to Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks, its unmatched scenic beauty, the world-class skiing, and its western character.
