Bureau of Justice Assistance, Public Safety Officer's
Benefit Program Purchases ZyLAB Solution to Manage Documents Related
to Officers Injured or Killed in the Line of Duty
May 17, 2005 - Vienna, VA - ZyLAB, an innovative
developer of content management and compliance solutions for paper
intensive organizations, today announced that the Department of
Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance
(BJA) has purchased the ZyIMAGE Enterprise Webserver Suite solution.
The solution will enable the Public Safety Officer's Benefit (PSOB)
program to better manage the thousands of paper and electronic documents
it receives related to officers injured or killed in the line of
duty, and importantly, speed up the claims process.
Public Safety Officers range from Police and other law enforcement
agents to fire and rescue personnel. BJA receives, organizes and
processes thousands of pages of paper and electronic documents that
include claims forms, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage
certificates, letters, emails, spread sheets, and other items. BJA
handles death, injury as well as education claims for family members
of public safety officers. It is important to BJA that these documents
are properly filed and distributed to the appropriate personnel
for processing and equally important to quickly retrieve documents
and that the integrity of each document is maintained.
The ZyIMAGE Enterprise Webserver Suite solution offers users, such
as BJA, with the unique ability to scan into an open technology
standard (Tiff and XML), the ability to search documents by both
text within the document and key fields, and a solution that is
fully compliant with the DoD 5015.2 standard for records retention.
"Government organizations are looking for solutions that are
easy to use, open, and integrate with legacy systems to improve
internal and external operating efficiencies," said Dr. Johannes
Scholtes, president of ZyLAB North America LLC. "We are extremely
pleased to be working with the PSOB program to help ensure these
brave men and women and their families are taken care of regarding
their benefits throughout times of tragedy."
