ZyLAB offers a full set of security capabilities, from standard NTFS security to document-level security and functional security and user roles, all with optional automated synchronization with, for instance, users’ Active Directory. In high-security environments, the ZyLAB XML Repository can be transferred to a database environment to benefit from DMZ, VPN, encryption and additional security layers.

Do you need a database to run ZyLAB solutions?

A

No. We do not use a database for data storage, although we do use a search database (an index). This database is not a traditional type with fixed records and fields; rather, it is a highly optimized search database suited for full-text retrieval. Several databases are used in the program to store additional structures, such as the table of contents, bookmarks and concepts. An option also exists to store key fields and data, if required. If additional security is needed, the ZyLAB XML Repository can be transferred to a database environment.
