The "Hype Cycle for Government Transformation, 2010" notes that "some public sector agencies may have to deal with numerous freedom of information mandates, litigation hold, or legal investigation requests for information every year, resulting in high costs for compliance. Gartner recommends evaluating products that can aid in the identification, preservation and collection of potential evidence, and cites ZyLAB as an example. The reports also note that records management initiatives are necessary to ensure that organizations retain the essential content for compliance and to support legal discovery.
