Software Tester 

(Amsterdam)

Job Purpose

To use and test software for the purpose of locating and eliminating bugs in the product. Performing specific tests, the tester examines all aspects of a product from an end-user's perspective.

Department responsibilities

The Test Department is responsible to provide excellence in software testing that facilitates the vision, objectives and goals of the ZyLAB solution driven software development approach.

General activities and tasks

To test our software on bugs to improve our products in order to create high quality products for our customers.

Responsibilities

The software tester participates in an initial consultation with the software developers, for the purpose of understanding the scope of a project. Either independently or in a group setting, the tester creates a testing plan based on the parameters outlined during the client consultation. The tester actively uses the software that he is testing, using every function and tool, searching for results regarding performance, reliability, bugs and any other failures. Detailed metrics are recorded and monitored to track the progress and outcomes of the testing process. Testing status is communicated either verbally or in writing to his manager or directly to the client. At the conclusion of testing, he may make recommendations, debug failures and perform other tasks required by his client.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Design and write Test Cases / Scripts
  • Perform thorough exploratory functional tests
  • Create reports and perform analysis on the test results
  • Assist in defining proper Risk Analysis assessments based on functional breakdowns
  • Coordinate Test Teams in the role of Test Coordinator
  • Remain up to date on job and ZyLAB related developments
  • Provide the technical writer(s) with relevant information about new and undocumented functionality
  • Assist in maintaining and improving automated regression and performance & load tests
  • Perform different test types (functional test, load test, stress test, regression test, etc.)

Your Profile

Education

A degree in Computer Sciences (IT)

Knowledge/Skills

  • Good knowledge of the Windows server platforms
  • Must have a deep understanding of computer programming possess a strong interest in technology and its advancement
  • Understanding of software development principles
  • Knowledge of Test Methodologies
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Decent Programming skills (preferably.NET programming)
  • You are able to write tools that measure the effectiveness of our API’s

Experience

  • At least three years’ experience in software testing
  • Proven experience in thorough manual functional testing (scripted and exploratory)
  • Hands-on experience in Test Automation, Performance and Load testing
  • Experience in using and configuring Microsoft technology including IIS, Active Directory and Microsoft SQL/ Exchange/SharePoint Servers in clustered & distributed environments is strongly preferred
  • Experience with SQL and modern Database technology is preferred
